About Jon

I'm a researcher, author, lecturer, and entrepreneur whose work spans climate solutions, critical thinking skills, and the energy and environmental effects of information technology.

I've been a Consulting Professor at Stanford University since 2004. I've also recently held visiting professorships at Yale (Fall 2009) and Stanford (2003-4 and Fall 2008), and worked as a researcher and scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) for more than two decades. I serve on the Editorial Board of the journal Contemporary Economic Policy, am a Research Affiliate of the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley, and am the scientific advisor for the startup company Wattbot.
